The Hakka people originalted in the far north of China over 1,000 yhears ago. During the course of several greate migrations they dispersed across China and throughout Asia. Many Settled near the Ton Kiang (East River) in Guangdong (Canton) Province. Hakka means "guest" and refers to people living in an area who are not natives. The Hakka peope picked up dishes and ingredients from each of the regions through which they traveled and incorporated them into their cuisine. You will find that our menu at Ton Kiang offers our interpretaion of a wide variety of classic Chinese dishes as well as Hakka specialties.
